Monday we will explore Unit 15 of Bridging History together in class. You will have a follow up document to read for class on Wednesday. The document is on the Bridging History Unit 15 site if you want to get a head start (it is a substantial reading). It is under the left menu for Unit 15 Resources, Readings, it is Reading #3 by Dennis O. Flynn and Arturo Giráldez, "Cycles of Silver: Global Economic Unity through the Mid-Eighteenth Century," Journal of World History 13, no. 2 (2002): 391–427.
We will be using the work we do in Bridging History Unit 15, the document (Reading #3) and a sampling of other sources to prepare for an in class DBQ on Wednesday over the social and economic effects of the global flow of silver from the mid-sixteenth century to the early eighteenth century.
Students going to Hamlet with Mr. Boyles must arrange to stay after school on Wednesday 1/29, Thursday 1/30 or Friday1/31 to complete the DBQ with me, in room 14, utilizing the full 45 minute writing window. No other make up for this essay will be available.
