APWH

I am aware that some of you will be out of class for Veteran's Day activities.
We will be working with the Chapter 9 (The Worlds of Islam: Afro-Eurasian Connections, 600–1500) outline ... identifying at least two APWH themes (and why) for the entire chapter 9 outline.
If you are out you will need to do this on your own and hand it in on Friday.
Here is an example of what I expect you to do:

A. The Homeland of Islam
            1. Tribal feuds and trading centers of the Arabian Peninsula
Themes:(3. State-building, expansion, and conflict 3.1 Political structures and forms of governance 3.4 Regional, trans-regional, and global structures and organizations. 4.2 Creation, expansion, and interaction of economic systems) … why? Trading centers throughout the Arabian Peninsula acted as points of transfer for spreading the unifying theocratic manifestation of Islam.
            2. Mecca: home of the Kaaba and the Quraysh
            3. Contact with Byzantine and Sassanid Empires
            4. Gods, idols, and “children of Abraham” Themes: (2.1 2.2    Development and interaction of cultures Religions, Belief systems, philosophies, and ideologies) … why? Elements of major universalizing religions such as Judaism surface in Islam.
